Reed Group in Westminster bought by Guardian Life Insurance

Westminster-based Reed Group, an absence management company, has been acquired by The Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America, based in New York.

Reed Group helps customers reduce the cost, compliance risk and complexity of employee absences. It will operate as an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Guardian and retain its name, Guardian said in a press release Friday.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

All of our customers can expect a continued high level of service from Reed Group and, backed by the strength of a Fortune 500 company, we will take advantage of new opportunities.”

Reed Group said it will continue to operate, and invest in, its current three divisions: Reed Group Services, to help manage and administer claims and absences; LeavePro, a software solution that helps employers manage absences; and MDGuidelines, a web-based return-to-work toolkit.

Founded in 1860, Guardian has about 5,000 employees in the United States and a network of more than 3,000 financial representatives in 80 agencies nationwide.
